LANCASTER – A wave of military strikes by Israel hit Iran early today which targeted its nuclear program. Multiple Iranian sites were hit, including their main nuclear enrichment facility, where black smoke could be seen rising into the air. Area Congressman Lloyd Smucker gave his reaction to the Israeli action saying that the United States has very strong bonds with Israel – a small nation with many neighbors seeking their total destruction. Allowing Iran to have a nuclear bomb would be potentially devastating for that region so he believes Israel had no other choice but to take a preemptive strike to take out those capabilities. The congressman added we stand with Israel and will remember them in our prayers as we see what unfolds over the next few days.
The attack on Iran by Israel has triggered a response from PA U.S. Sen. John Fetterman. He said on X, “Our commitment to Israel must be absolute and I fully support this attack. Keep wiping out Iranian leadership and the nuclear personnel. We must provide whatever is necessary—military, intelligence, weaponry—to fully back Israel in striking Iran.”
