EAST PETERSBURG – Lancaster County authorities are investigating a shooting. On October 19 around 4:42 p.m., police responded to the Turkey Hill in the 5000 block of Main Street in East Petersburg. A clerk at Turkey Hill reported that a BMW operated by a man pulled into the parking lot, exited the vehicle, and appeared to have sustained an injury consistent with a shooting. Police found the driver’s side of the BMW, owned by a third party, had been struck numerous times and the driver had sustained a non-life-threatening wound. It was also discovered that an infant, found unharmed, had likely been an occupant at the time of the incident. The victim/driver, a 21-year-old Lancaster man, was transported to the hospital. Evidence suggested that the shooting did not take place in East Petersburg. Preliminary information suggested that the victim/driver had dropped off an female passenger north of Penn Township and was returning to Lancaster with the child when the shooting occurred. The shooting is not believed to have been domestic-related or associated with child custody. Information also suggested that the shooting is an isolated incident and that the victim/driver was specifically targeted.
