On Thursday, October 7th, 2021 at approximately 8:23am, a York City police officer was responding to an unrelated call for service. While en route to the call, the officer came upon a shooting in progress in the 800 block of E. King St. Observing this exchange of gunfire, the officer intervened, returning fire that was directed toward one of the shooters who subsequently fled the scene. Recognizing that another individual sustained a gunshot wound, the officer provided medical aid until EMS arrived. The victim, a 15 year-old male, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The investigation of the incident is continuing in conjunction with the DA’s Office and the officers use of force is being reviewed by the PA State Police.
