LANCASTER – A Lancaster County man was sentenced to 25-60 years in prison after being convicted of two counts of attempted homicide and one count of robbery. 34-year-old Robert Sheets of Quarryville was found guilty by jury of the offenses that occurred August 14 and 15 of 2017 in a wooded area near Main Street in Conestoga. Sheets picked up the victim, took him to the woods, shot him, and left him. He returned the next day when he realized the victim was still alive, shot him again, and hit him. Sheets then left the victim again after stealing his wallet and cell phone. The severely injured victim was able to crawl through cornfields to a home on Oak Road to get help. Sheets was eventually arrested in Virginia after leading police on a 30-mile chase a few days after the shootings.
