State Senator Lindsey Williams of Allegheny County has introduced legislation that would prohibit Pennsylvania schools from replacing educators with artificial intelligence.

Senate Bill 793, called the “Human Students Need Human Educators” bill, would bar schools from using A-I to replace teachers and other education staff.

Williams says technology can support education, but cannot replace the human relationships students need to learn and thrive.

The legislation follows a 2025 application for an A-I-based cyber charter school in Pennsylvania. That application was ultimately denied.

The bill is now before the state Senate.
