HARRISBURG (AP) – A former federal prosecutor who led sweeping corruption investigations in Allentown and Reading is running for PA attorney general. 47-year-old Joe Khan is the second Democrat to seek the state’s top law enforcement office in next year’s election. He recently left his job as Bucks County solicitor. As a federal prosecutor, Khan led a pay-to-play investigation into city halls in Allentown and Reading that ultimately netted more than a half-dozen guilty pleas and convictions of the cities’ mayors. He ran for city district attorney in 2017, losing in the Democratic primary. Another Democrat, former state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale announced his candidacy for state attorney general last week.
