EAST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP – Lancaster County authorities are searching for a jewelry thief. On Saturday, Jan. 16 around 12:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Velaska Jewelry in the 2900 block of Columbia Avenue. Upon arrival officers spoke with store employees and learned that a male suspect had stolen five white gold ladies engagement rings. An employee removed the rings that the male asked to see from the display case. Shortly after, the male grabbed the tray containing the rings and fled from the store. He was last seen fleeing south on Industry Drive towards Columbia Avenue in a black four-door sedan with tinted windows. The license plate was missing or obscured. A photo of the suspect can be seen below. The suspect was described as being in his late 20’s to early 30’s, about 5’10”, with a thin build.
