LANCASTER – The Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center is now offering limited same-day COVID-19 vaccine appointments to help ensure all vaccine doses are used by the end of each day. The Vaccinate Lancaster Coalition, which operates the Park City Center location, noted that, on average, about 98% of scheduled vaccine doses are administered each day – with a 2% cancellation or no-show rate. Staff must then find individuals to vaccinate at the end of each day to ensure those unused doses do not go to waste. Dr. Michael Ripchinski, the vaccination site director and chief clinical officer with Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, said the goal is to make sure we get every vaccine dose we receive into the arm of one of our community members. Same-day appointment scheduling will be held at 1 p.m. daily at the vaccination center’s interior mall entrance, based on vaccine availability. To register and schedule for a vaccine at the Lancaster County Community Vaccination Center, visit VaccinateLancaster.org or call 717-588-1020.
