DALLAS – Samaritan’s Purse is in hard-hit Louisiana after Hurricane Laura struck the coastline as a Category 4 storm. Disaster response specialists are working with local government officials and church partners to determine areas of greatest need. Two Disaster Relief Units—tractor trailers filled with relief supplies and equipment—are set up in Lake Charles and DeRidder. A third Disaster Relief Unit is headed to Jennings, Louisiana, a community east of Lake Charles. Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham asked for prayer for those impacted by the storm and for relief teams as they provide critical help to victims. Teams of volunteers will go out daily to help homeowners remove downed trees, clear debris, tarp roofs, mud-out flooded homes, and salvage any personal belongings that may have survived the storm.
