LANCASTER – The annual Lancaster Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff takes place this afternoon. Due to COVID-19, the Red Kettle Kickoff was held at their 131 S. Queen Street location and streamed virtually on their Facebook page. The Red Kettle Campaign is the largest annual fundraising event for the non-profit. With a goal of $165,000 for this year’s campaign, it will be one that will need as much community support as ever. Commanding Officer, Major Dean Satterlee said they are preparing to serve over 6,000 individuals from the greater Lancaster area with food, toys, and winter wear. The donations received through the annual Christmas kettle campaign help to make this and yearlong Salvation Army programs possible. The Red Kettle Campaign will officially begin Wednesday, November 18 and end Thursday, December 24. For more information on the Red Kettle Campaign, contact Lt. Michael Buzzard at 717-397-7565.
