EPHRATA – Police are investigating a weekend robbery of the Dollar Tree store in the 300 block of North Reading Road in Ephrata. Officers responded Saturday around 9:23 p.m. for the report of a man with a gun who may still be in the store. Police arrived, cleared the store, and determined the robber, after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, fled through the store where he exited out the back. Employees say they were closing for the evening when approached by the man holding a gun. The man was described as about 6 feet tall, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, with his face covered. The suspect pointed a gun, threatened them with harm, moved them to where the cash was located, struck each employee on the head with the gun, took the cash and fled. Each employee sustained injury to the head; one employee was treated at the scene while the second employee, upon police arrival, collapsed and was transported to the hospital for treatment of her head injury. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Ephrata Police at 717-733-8611.
