LEBANON – A portion of Route 322 has been named in honor of the late Lebanon County Commissioner Bill Ames. Sen. Chris Gebhard of Lebanon, Dauphin, & York Counties held a road designation ceremony to honor Ames who died December 28, 2021. Ames was a lifelong educator in the Derry Township School District and retired after 30 years. He was also a public servant, first serving as South Londonderry Township supervisor and then as a Lebanon County Commissioner for the last decade. A sign designating a portion of State Route 322 in South Londonderry Township as the Commissioner William E. Ames Memorial Highway has been placed at the intersection of state Routes 117 and 322.
