HARRISBURG – The PA House Labor and Industry Committee advanced legislation to reinstate work-search requirements for people claiming unemployment benefits. The sponsor of House Bill 406, Berks County Rep. Jim Cox said many employers are having trouble finding workers. Lawmakers suspended the work-search requirement through 2020, but Gov. Tom Wolf extended the waiver administratively. Wolf’s office said certain industries may have difficulty hiring workers for different reasons, like parents who have children learning at home, workers waiting for a second vaccine dose or people who chose to change careers or get new skills during the pandemic.
