HARRISBURG – The PA House Health Committee approved a bill establishing a registry of medical directors in PA nursing homes, personal care homes, and assisted living facilities. House Bill 2792 requires maintenance of a registry of medical directors to be utilized by the state Departments of Health and Human Services. Currently, PA does not maintain such a registry. It also increases transparency, as nursing home residents and their families would have a right to know the physician who is charged with coordinating the medical care given in a facility. The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.
