READING (AP) – Authorities in Berks County say Reading Police shot and critically wounded an armed person who refused to drop their weapon. The Berks County District Attorney’s office said officers were called Sunday morning about a person with a gun and responded to the 800 block of Franklin Street. Prosecutors said the officers issued numerous commands to drop the weapon, but the individual refused, and kept pointing the firearm at officers. Officers then fired, striking the individual at least once. The individual was rushed to Reading Hospital and remains in critical condition. Authorities are continuing to gather information as part of their investigation.
