QUARRYVILLE – Homeland Security agents arrested two Lancaster County men engaged in a multi-state criminal investigation regarding Operating Undocumented Worker Conspiracy and Extensive Tax Fraud. 48-year-old Miguel Morales and 39-year-old Jose Morales, both from Quarryville; 35-year-old Oscar Carrillo-Perez of West Grove; and 44-year-old Santiago Garcia-Ramirez of Landenberg were arrested in a take-down operation following indictment on charges of conspiring to transport and transporting people who are not lawfully present in the United States. Morales was also charged with making false statements. In a separate indictment, Morales and 49-year-old Lawrence Urena of Spring Lake, North Carolina were charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States and failure to collect and pay employment taxes. The indictment alleges that Morales hired people regardless of their immigration status, hired undocumented aliens not lawfully present in the country, did not file W-2 Wage and Tax Statements, and failed to collect and pay employment taxes for his business which provided contracted labor to various mushroom farms in Chester County.
