LANCASTER – Saturday afternoon’s Spotlight features a Monday press conference at the state Capitol with five women from the PA House who are introducing House Bill 972. The bill preserves Title IX, which was passed by Congress in 1972 and creates equal athletic opportunities for women. President Biden filed an executive order requiring biological males be permitted to compete on women’s sports teams in high school and college. One of bill sponsors, York County Rep. Dawn Keefer said female athletes will be set back unless their measure is passed. Other lawmakers who sponsored the legislation include Cumberland County Rep. Barb Gleim, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz of Centre & Clinton Counties, Philadelphia County Rep. Martina White, and Allegheny County Rep. Valerie Gaydos.
