CARLISLE – Cumberland County officials identified an airplane pilot who died after a collision with a PA State Police helicopter near a runway at Carlisle Regional Airport. The Cessna 150 was coming down on the runway and veered into the PSP helicopter that was close to the ground, conducting routine training exercises. Two state troopers in the helicopter – Cpl. Bryce Korman and Trooper Jason Mills – survived the crash. The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office identified the airplane pilot as 57-year-old Paul Sokoloski of Hershey. Sokoloski was an Emergency Medicine physician at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug 25. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
