MIDDLETOWN – Middletown Borough officials are warning residents and businesses about a phone scam involving the municipal electric department.
Scammers are reportedly calling and falsely claiming to represent the borough, asking about electric meters or account balances.
Officials say the Electric Department does not call customers about electric meters.
If you get a suspicious call, hang up and do not provide personal, account, or financial information.

Anyone who loses money to the scam should contact Middletown Police and file a report.
