HARRISBURG – Legislation has been introduced to penalize individuals who refuse to wear a face mask in public. Senate Bill 1287 would add failing to adhere to the face covering requirements of a declaration of disaster emergency to the crime of “recklessly endangering another person”, punishable as a misdemeanor of the second degree. Bill sponsor, Sen. Art Haywood of Philadelphia & Montgomery Counties says willfully exposing someone to a deadly disease already is a violation of our Crimes Code. The measure is before the state Senate Judiciary Committee for consideration.
