HARRISBURG – Gov. Josh Shapiro has signed House Bill 1431 into law, officially repealing PA’s ban on Sunday hunting. The new law expands recreational opportunities for hunters and is expected to boost revenue from new hunting license sales, strengthening wildlife conservation efforts across the Commonwealth. The PA Game Commission will have full authority to decide which hunting seasons can include Sundays guided by biological data and hunter feedback. Hunting contributes over $1.6 billion annually to PA’s economy, supports over 15,000 jobs, and generates millions in state and local tax revenue. With around 850,000 licensed hunters, PA ranks second in the nation behind Texas. The law takes effect on September 7, 2025.
