HARRISBURG – A series of bills have been reintroduced that will ban per diem payments, automatic pay raises, car leases, and gifts of any value for state lawmakers. Senate Bill 361 replaces yearly, automatic cost-of-living adjustments by a once-per-decade raise consideration calculated by the Consumer Price Index. Senate Bill 362 replaces per diem payments with reimbursement for actual expenses upon sufficient documentation. Senate Bill 363 ends state vehicle leases for members of the General Assembly, instead reimbursing for actual mileage and tolls for documented government travel. Senate Bill 364 bans gifts of any value to members of the General Assembly. The bills have been referred to the Senate State Government Committee.
