HARRISBURG – Commonwealth Secretary Al Schmidt reminded Pennsylvanians that the deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 4 municipal election is October 20. Schmidt says the races on the ballot in a municipal election may not receive the same attention as a presidential election, but they are important to the everyday lives of citizens. He added it only takes a few minutes to register to vote. Once you are registered, you can then exercise your fundamental right to vote and let your voice be heard. Eligible voters will have the opportunity to cast a ballot for judicial races and local government positions this November. To be eligible to register to vote in the Nov. 4 municipal election, a person must be a U.S. citizen for at least one month before the election, a resident of the election district in which the person plans to register for at least 30 days before the election, and at least 18 years old on or before Nov. 4.
