HARRISBURG – A bill establishing the “Veterans’ Outreach and Support Network” within the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is now before the state Senate for consideration. House Bill 2022 is intended to connect veterans to state services within that department. Luzerne County Sen. Lisa Baker spoke in support of the measure prior to a recent committee vote. Despite the information they may receive during out-processing, in regard to the benefits they are eligible for or risks that they are susceptible to, some veterans and their families struggle with maintaining employment, managing their mental and physical condition, and taking the proper steps to provide or seek help when most needed. Through the creation of a veterans’ support network, it will strive to improve the health and well-being of veterans and their families. House Bill 2022 could receive a Senate floor vote as early as next week.
