WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Senate narrowly defeated a bill that would overturn every pro-life law in the nation and legalize abortions up to birth. Lawmakers voted 48-46 against cloture which would have ended debate and allowed a vote on the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act. All Republicans, including PA U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, voted against cloture on the pro-abortion bill and all Democrats, including PA U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, voted for cloture. Democrat West Virginia U.S. Joe Manchin was the lone Democrat not voting for cloture.
