WASHINGTON, DC – PA’s two U.S. senators have weighed in on the announced sale of U.S. Steel to Japan-owned Nippon Steel. Sen. Bob Casey said the U.S. steel company should remain under American ownership. He added that the deal appears to be bad for PA and the good union jobs that have supported PA families for generations, for the long-term investment in the Commonwealth, and for American industrial leadership. Sen. John Fetterman called the proposed sale “outrageous. ” He added that steel is always about security – both our national security and the economic security of our steel communities. Fetterman said he will use his platform and position, to block the foreign sale.
