WASHINGTON, DC – PA U.S. Senators Dave McCormick and John Fetterman reflected on America’s 250th anniversary, PA‘s central role in our nation’s founding, and the importance of civility and bipartisan cooperation. The senators made a bipartisan effort to ensure that the state was represented at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall during America’s semiquincentennial celebration. After learning that Gov. Shapiro decided that the Commonwealth would not have an official presence at the fair, both senators quickly partnered with PA businesses to secure private contributions and support for a PA pavilion at the fair – ensuring no taxpayer dollars were used. Fetterman remarked that it “doesn’t matter what temperature it is, people lined up to see the PA Pavilion on Independence Day.” McCormick said “no other state has been more consequential to America’s history than right here in PA. It was originated here and many of the most important moments of American history happen right here in PA.” He emphasized that America remains “the most exceptional country in the world” while recognizing that preserving that legacy requires continued leadership and civic engagement.
