WASHINGTON, DC – Congress has failed to strike an agreement to keep federal government programs and services running by Wednesday’s deadline. Roughly 750,000 federal workers are expected to be furloughed and many offices will be shuttered. Sen. Dave McCormick called the shutdown “terrible for America” putting a pause on spending that supports basic services. He added that the shutdown is because Democrats have tried to hold keeping the government open hostage to $1 trillion of new spending. PA U.S. Sen. John Fetterman released a statement calling it “a sad day for our nation. My vote was for our country over my party. Together, we must find a better way forward.”
