HARRISBURG – PA Health Secretary, Dr. Rachel Levine will host a virtual briefing at 1 p.m. today to announce targeted efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Across the nation, governors and mayors have been putting some restrictions in place in response to surging numbers of COVID-19 cases. State officials did not immediate say what kinds of mitigation measures they are planning. PA officials have said there are no plans for  statewide COVID-19 closures. The city of Philadelphia plans to prohibit indoor dining at restaurants, shutter gyms, museums, and libraries, pause in-person instruction at colleges and high schools, and reduce occupancy at stores and religious institutions. The new restrictions in Philly take effect Friday and extend at least through the end of 2020.
