HARRISBURG (AP) – Montgomery County Sen. Katie Muth is suing PA’s largest public pension system amid a federal investigation into aspects of the agency’s undertakings. Agency officials have refused to share documents with her, even though she is a board member. The lawsuit was filed in Commonwealth Court against the Public School Employees’ Retirement System. On May 7, Muth emailed a request for documents revolving around some $12 million that system officials had requested to purchase, excavate, and prepare several downtown Harrisburg properties. A system lawyer refused, citing “ongoing internal and criminal investigations,” the lawsuit says. Muth remarked if she, as a PSERS Trustee, is having difficulty acquiring documents about the fund and various investments and practices, what hope does the public have to know how their money is being managed or invested?
