HARRISBURG – The PA House Education Committee has unanimously approved legislation that would require schools to remember two important days in the history of the United States. Senate Bill 869 would require a moment of silence on September 11 to remember the terrorist attacks on the United States. The bill sponsor, Sen. Doug Mastriano of Adams, Cumberland, & York Counties, noted that PA’s role in 9/11 should never be forgotten, evidenced by the sacred ground of Shanksville and the heroic sacrifices that transpired there. The bill also requires a moment of silence on December 7 to remember the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. The measure now goes to the full House.
