HARRISBURG – School personnel in PA would receive training in seizure recognition and response under a bill passed by the state House. House Bill 416, known as the “DOMinate Epilepsy Law, ” is named for 6-year old Dominic Rosini of Chester County, who is fighting a rare form of epilepsy. The bill would make the completion of an approved state Health Department online course in seizure recognition and first-aid for professional continuing education credit. The online course would be provided by a national nonprofit with an understanding of epilepsy and seizure disorders. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, one in 26 Americans will develop epilepsy at some point in their lifetime. The bill now goes to the state Senate.
