HARRISBURG (AP) – Pennsylvania will ask the federal government for a new round of $300 in weekly unemployment benefits under a presidential order. PA Labor and Industry Secretary, Jerry Oleksiak said the Wolf administration would prefer the U.S. Congress extend the $600-a-week unemployment supplement that expired last month. But he says it’ll pursue the smaller payments from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Oleksiak cautioned the payments may only last five weeks or less and said he’s unsure when the money will start to reach recipients. Wolf’s administration hasn’t said whether it will add $100 per week to the $300 from the U.S. government, as President Trump requested.
