HARRISBURG – In the 2022 mid-term election cycle, the Libertarian Party of PA fielded more legislative candidates than in the past three decades, received more votes than any previous mid-term, and maintained official party status through a mid-term for the first time in twenty years. B.J. Hebenthal, Chair of the PA Libertarian Party’s Election Committee said, “This was a historic election for us.” PA election law dictates that a political body must receive 2% of the largest vote in a statewide election and do so in at least ten counties to receive official party status. The party accomplished that in forty-two of PA’s sixty-seven counties. There are 45,000 registered libertarians in the Keystone State.
