HARRISBURG – PA House Speaker, Lancaster County Rep. Bryan Cutler and state House Education Committee Chairman, Erie County Rep. Curt Sonney are urging the PA Department of Education to immediately release PA System of School Assessment or PSSA exam results from tests taken in the spring of 2021. In a letter to Secretary of Education Noe Ortega, both lawmakers argue the data is imperative to better understand the impact of the pandemic on learning loss in PA and necessary before any budgetary decisions can be made for the next fiscal year. The Education Department acknowledged the delay in results in testimony to the House Education Committee in November and pledged to provide the results in “the coming weeks.” Now three months later, there is still no compilation of state exam results.
