HARRISBURG – PA House Republican leaders say House Democrats broke ranks with Gov. Josh Shapiro by overhauling his budget plan and putting PA on a path to bankruptcy by passing an unsustainable budget. House Republican Leader, Lancaster County Rep. Bryan Cutler said while Gov. Shapiro’s budget proposal wasn’t totally good, House Democrats passed an even worse budget with much more spending. House Republican Appropriations Chairman, York County Rep. Seth Grove said compared to the $45.9 billion budget introduced by Gov. Shapiro, the House Democrats’ spending plan boosts spending by $1.08 billion over what the governor proposed and is a $5.7 billion increase or 14% more than the current fiscal year. The spending plan, which is House Bill 611, goes to the PA Senate.
