HARRISBURG – For the fifth time, PA House Democrats have re-referred the Save Women’s Sports Act to another committee rather than allowing a vote by the full House. The move marks the latest stop in a year-long pattern of procedural referrals that has sent the bill from committee to committee instead of allowing lawmakers to cast an up-or-down vote on legislation supported by a significant majority of Pennsylvanians. Dan Bartkowiak, Chief Strategy Officer at PA Family Council said, “Five committees. Five referrals. Zero votes. This is what governing looks like when political calculations matter more than transparency. If House Democrats are confident Pennsylvanians agree with them, they should stop spinning the wheel, stop playing games with women and girls, and let elected representatives cast an up-or-down vote on the Save Women’s Sports Act.” The bill would keep biological males from participating in women’s sports.
Emily Kreps, Policy Analyst for Pennsylvania Family Council said, “Every time House leadership re-refers this bill, they’re sending the same message to PA’s female athletes: ‘Wait another turn.’ Women and girls don’t need another procedural detour, they need legislators willing to protect fair competition and privacy. PA families deserve accountability, not another spin of the wheel.”
