SACRAMENTOGovernor Josh Shapiro visited a Potato Farm in Schuylkill County this afternoon, to highlight how his Administration is supporting farmers by investing agriculture innovation – and call for an additional $13 million in the Agricultural Innovation Grant Program in the 2025-26 budget to help build the future of American agriculture right here in Pennsylvania. Last year the Shapiro Administration created the first Agriculture Innovation fund in the nation. In the first year, the Department of Agriculture received 159 applications for nearly $70 million worth of innovation projects – but only had enough funding for $10 million worth of projects. To meet this demand, Governor Shapiro is proposing to more than double the funding for agriculture innovation to help more farmers embrace the latest technologies and farming techniques.
