HARRISBURG (AP) – The top Democrat in the PA Senate says a Republican colleague who was in Washington, DC during the U.S. Capitol unrest should resign. Allegheny County Sen. Jay Costa said Sen. Doug Mastriano’s words and actions since November encouraged a coup attempt and inspired the people behind it. Mastriano, who represents Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, and York Counties, said in a statement that he condemned what occurred and did not enter the Capitol or go beyond police lines. He added that he does not nor would he ever condone the violence that took place.
