YORK – An officer involved shooting in York is under investigation. On Tuesday, June 16th around 7:35 p.m., a York City Police officer responded to the 300 block of W. Philadelphia Street for a disorderly subject. While inspecting a resident’s home for damage, the officer was attacked by a dog that got loose. The officer retreated and fired several rounds, striking and killing the dog. The dog’s owner, who appeared to be trying to secure his dog, sustained a leg injury as a result of the gunfire. The officer provided aid to the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital. The PA State Police have been brought in to conduct an independent investigation of the incident. The officer has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.
