LANCASTER – October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. One in four women and one in seven men experience severe physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Domestic violence does not discriminate as it can happen in every community, and victims can be any gender, race, ethnicity, community, or socio-economic status. Chances are likely that you know someone who is experiencing or has experienced domestic violence by an intimate partner or family member, even if you are not aware it is happening. If you need help, please reach out to the Domestic Violence Service of Lancaster County 24/7. Their hotline number is 717-299-1249 or text SAFE to 61222.
