LANCASTER – The Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced that no charges will be filed after 40-year-old Matthew Hill died from a stab wound. The incident occurred following an altercation with two juveniles at a residence on West Farnum Street, as the two juveniles under the age of 14 were playing pranks on Hill while he was trying to sleep. Upon waking up to the pranking, Hill, who had alcohol in his system, began assaulting one of the juveniles. The second juvenile began hitting Hill to defend the first juvenile. The second juvenile was holding cleaning spray in one hand and a serrated steak knife in the other. Hill began assaulting the second juvenile, and in the process, Hill was unintentionally stabbed by the steak knife at around 3:30am. Hill refused to be evaluated at a hospital when a female at the resident attempted to seek help, and finally EMS were called to the residence around 6:00am. When the EMS noticed the stab wound, they got the police involved, and despite their best efforts, Hill passed away at 6:37am. The death was ruled accidental as the second juvenile was said to have been unaware they had stabbed Hill in the altercation, so no charges will be filed.
