HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf has announced new restrictions after weeks of exploding COVID-19 case numbers and sharply rising hospitalizations and deaths. The state is banning indoor dining at restaurants, but allowing take-outs, and ordering gyms, theaters, and casinos to close. It’s halting school sports and other extracurricular activities. Indoor gatherings and events of more than 10 persons are prohibited. Churches and other places of congregate worship are specifically excluded from the limitations, but institutions are strongly encouraged to find alternative methods for worship. Outdoor gatherings and events of more than 50 persons are prohibited. The new, limited-time mitigation orders take effect at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow and remain in effect until 8 a.m. on January 4, 2021.
