HARRISBURG – A resolution will be forthcoming from resolution Berks County Rep. David Maloney urging the President of the United States, Congress, and the U.S. Interior Secretary to take the necessary steps to rename Lake Erie as Lake Pennsylvania. He says every summer, Pennsylvanians head toward the lake with boats, fishing gear, and families in tow. They spend the weekend on PA’s Great Lake shoreline and return home Sunday. Maloney added that despite having a relatively small share of the lake’s shoreline, PA stocked nearly 500,000 yearling steelhead in 2025 – approximately 40% of all steelhead stocked and more than any other state or Canadian province. The Keystone State also supplied all of the brown trout stocked into the lake that year. Maloney says Ohio has plenty of shoreline, New York already has two Great Lakes, and Canada has four others..
