MOUNT JOY TOWNSHIP – Authorities say a man killed his father with a crossbow before taking his own life at their Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County, home. It happened Wednesday around 8:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of Wissler Lane. Police say 31-year-old Wesley Frey, Jr. shot his father, 61-year-old Wesley Frey, Sr. during a domestic dispute. A family member who witnessed the shooting fled to a neighbor’s home to call police. When they arrived, officers looked through a back window and saw Frey, Sr. on the floor seriously hurt. Upon forcing entry into the house, they removed the senior Frey and rendered aid, but he died at the scene. A family member told police that Frey, Jr. was intent on taking his life in an upstairs room. Police tried to contact Frey, Jr. before entering the room. After failed attempts, police forced entry into the room through a door which had been barricaded with furniture and found Frey, Jr. deceased. Northwest Regional Police are investigating.
