HARRISBURG – Delaware County Rep. David Delloso plans to introduce a measure requiring suicide hot-line numbers on PA student ID cards. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 10-24. Ensuring students have immediate access to crisis resources can help them seek and receive support when they need it most. Many middle schools and high schools throughout PA issue ID cards to their students. Delloso will reintroduce legislation that would require those ID cards to display a national, state, or local suicide prevention hot-line number, such as 988, the nationwide crisis hot-line. Legislatures in Michigan and New Hampshire have passed similar legislation.
