HARRISBURG – Legislation to help prevent waste, fraud, and abuse within the state’s Medicaid system has been approved by the PA House. Rep. Clint Owlett of Tioga, Bradford & Potter Counties said his House Bill 108 helps protect taxpayer dollars and sees to it that those who truly need it are helped. Under the bill, the governor’s budget office would oversee the program, requiring all relevant agencies to participate within two years. Agencies would be required to submit annual reports on the initiative to the Budget Secretary, inspector general, auditor general, the General Assembly, and the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee. The bill now goes to the state Senate for its consideration.
