HARRISBURG – Lancaster County Sen. Scott Martin was appointed to serve as Chair of the Senate Education Committee for the new session. The committee is responsible for measures related to PA’s education system, including school safety, funding issues, and post-secondary opportunities for students. Martin has authored several laws pertaining to education, including landmark school safety legislation that created the Safe2Say school threat reporting system and the School Safety and Security Grant Program. He also spearheaded the creation of the Keystone Telepresence Education Grant Program to provide educational resources to students who are home-bound due to illness or injury. He was also the prime sponsor of a bill that will protect victims of sexual assault from attending the same school as their attacker.
