GETTYSBURG – Adams County authorities responded to a lockdown yesterday morning at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital after the facility received threats to staff and the hospital. Gettysburg Police along with State Police secured the area and conducted an investigation. Officers determined the identity of the person who allegedly made the threats, that the subject was not at the hospital, and the threats were made over the phone. Officers interviewed a number of potential witnesses. The individual was then contacted by officers who determined he was on his way to Gettysburg. The person met with officers at a location away from the hospital to discuss the incident. The person was cooperative in the investigation. In consultation with the Adams County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that no crimes were committed. The hospital was notified that law enforcement believed it was safe for them to release from lockdown. The hospital says they continue to operate, but enhanced security measures will continue to ensure the safety and security of team members and patients.
