WASHINGTON, DC – Area Congressman Lloyd Smucker has been appointed to serve on the House Ways and Means Committee. Established in 1789, it is the oldest committee in Congress with broad jurisdiction over taxation and trade. As a small business owner, Smucker said he knows first-hand how taxation and government regulation impacts the nearly 13,000 small businesses in Lancaster and York Counties. The Republican lawmaker added that he will work to advocate for a tax code that allows small businesses to thrive, creating new family-sustaining jobs, and opportunity across our nation. Representing the top congressional district in PA for agricultural production, Smucker commented he would fight to support our farmers in our nation’s trade policy and continue to champion free and fair trade.
